The holiday season is quickly approaching, and one of our favorite ways to get into the holiday spirit is by giving back to the community. Helping out at local food shelters is one of the most rewarding ways to give back, so we’ve compiled a list of a few food pantries in San Antonio that are currently seeking help.

San Antonio Food Bank has been awarded a perfect score from Charity Navigator for seven consecutive years, and those looking to help out have a variety of ways to get involved. The San Antonio Food Bank is always accepting food and monetary contributions, and donating online is an option. Community Table Project has served over 35,000 free meals to those in need in San Antonio. The organization offers many ways to get involved like cooking and serving, organizing food drive events, donating clothing, appliances and household items, starting a project and many more. The Get Up Community Center Food Pantry provides food to more than 30,000 people in need every year. The food pantry is open every second and fourth Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. to noon, and it is also open Tuesdays from noon to 2 p.m. Those looking for more information about donating or volunteering are encouraged to check out Get Up Community Center’s website here, or call the organization directly at (210) 637-0155.
